The firm was established in 1990. From its inception, the firm has specialized in probate and trust litigation. In addition, the firm does estate planning and handles the administration of trust and probate estates. The firm's other areas of practice are in real property and business. Recently, we have handled matters in Marin, Sonoma, Napa, Alameda, San Francisco, San Mateo, Contra Costa, Riverside, and Kern Counties, representing clients from across the country.
John Burroughs, a graduate of the University of Minnesota and Hastings College of Law, practiced in the areas of insurance law, personal injury, and probate and trust litigation for many years. After over 35 successful years in private practice, John retired in 2001. Henry Froneberger received his J.D. degree from Wake Forest University in 1972. He received an L.L.M. degree from George Washington University in 1973. He joined John Burroughs in Marin County in 1990, after practicing in San Francisco for 15 years. Henry has practiced in the area of trust and estate litigation for over 15 years. He has tried numerous cases to conclusion and has successfully settled many more cases. He also has handled four appeals in trust and estate matters, all successfully. Henry has devoted many hours over the years to volunteer work for various non profit groups and has given many hours to pro bono work for Legal Aid.
Alice E. Hofer is a graduate of San Francisco State University and Ventura College of Law. Alice began private practice in 2000. Alice concentrates on the litigation and estate planning areas of the practice. Alice was formerly Secretary of the Marin County Women Lawyers.
The firm believes in utilizing highly qualified paralegal assistants to better give our clients the attention and services the clients deserve. Both attorneys and assistants regularly attend continuing education seminars so as to stay up-to-date with the ever-changing landscape of today's estate practice. We associate with organizations such as the Marin Bar Association Probate and Estate Planning Section, Sonoma and Los Angeles Bar Associations, and California Association for Nursing Home Reform to allow networking with other experts in the field.
